Dog Veterinary Services
Since 1981, the veterinarians at Countryside Veterinary Services have been providing the Fox Valley community with quality dog veterinary services. We provide care for adult dogs and puppies alike. Our team includes friendly and compassionate dog veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and receptionists. We are dedicated to the care and wellbeing of your dog.
During the first 16 weeks of your puppy’s life, we recommend getting puppy veterinary checkups, vaccinations, and booster shots to protect them. The sooner they become acquainted with our veterinarians, the easier future visits will be for you and for them. We can also discuss any health concerns with your pet, as well as the pros and cons of spaying or neutering your puppy and when the appropriate age is to do so.

Do you have any concerns about your dog’s health? At CountrySide Veterinary Services, we encourage you to bring your canine in yearly for a dog wellness exam. This helps to ensure your canine friend is happy, healthy, and enjoys a long life ahead of them.
During your pet’s visit, we will examine your dog’s health to prevent a potential disease from ailing them. We will check to ensure that their skin, fur, eyes, ears, nose, gums, teeth, and temperature all look healthy and that there are no signs of parasites or other health problems.
Signs of Illness to Look Out For
Be sure to watch for any potential signs of illness. Some of the signs that indicate your dog is experiencing an illness include:
- Change in behavior
- Noticeable pain or lethargy
- Visible pain such as limping, or gnawing
- Frequent coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, or urination
- Reduced appetite

Dog Workout Plan
Exercise is paramount to the health of your canine. Daily walks, jogs, or play sessions can keep your dog trim and keep your pooch’s energy in a positive direction.
For example, engaging your dog in activities like walking or playing fetch will encourage them to be happy, healthy, and active, rather than engage in destructive behavior like digging holes in the backyard. Contact our team at (920) 968-3322 to discuss your dog’s workout schedule to make it more suited to their age, breed, size, and overall health.
Ways to Get Your Dog Moving:
- Walking or jogging
- Playing fetch
- Running off leash (only where safe and appropriate)
- Swimming
- Playing with other dog/pets (use discretion)
- Teaching tricks and rewarding with low-calorie treats
Since the breed, age, gender, and individual health of your canine is unique, you will want to consult your vet about your dog’s workout plan. For example, if your young dog is six to eighteen months old and is a hound, sporting, herding, or terrier breed, or a mix of these breeds, you will need to ensure they get plenty of exercise. Strenuous exercise is not for every dog, for example, senior or overweight dogs. As a result, you will want to speak to a veterinarian about your dog’s specific workout plan.
Also, be conscientious of weather conditions. If it’s a hot, humid, or very cold day, be sure you allow your dog plenty of breaks. If your canine friend tends to lag behind, gets easily tired, or appears to be struggling during the walk, head home. Plan the next exercise session to be shorter and slower. When introducing him or her to a new exercise routine, start slow and gradually build up to longer and more strenuous walks until they get used to it. Always be sure to consult a veterinary professional prior to beginning a new exercise routine with your pet. Contact us at (920) 968-3322 today!
Dog Diet
With so many dog foods available on the market, you may be wondering which brand to purchase for your dog or puppy’s diet. Since your canine’s nutritional needs will change over the course of their lifetime, you’ll want to discuss your dog’s diet with your veterinarian. Also, you’ll probably be getting your dog treats for training and rewards – however do not give your dog too many treats as this leads to canine obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and orthopedic problems.
Before deciding on a brand of food, you’ll want to consider your dog’s size and breed. For example, many dog food brands are formulated specially for your puppy/young dog’s growth. If your puppy is a large breed, you’ll want to opt for a dog food brand specially made with the proper level of calcium and phosphorus for large breed puppies.
Also, certain types of diseases can be managed based on the food they eat, e.g., your vet may prescribe a low protein food choice for your canine if he or she is experiencing kidney disease. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your canine friend’s diet, please reach out to CountrySide Veterinary Services at (920) 968-3322 to speak with a professional.
